Cody Wyoming

We spent a couple hours at the Buffalo Bill Museum in Cody, Wy.

Yellowstone National Park

We treked from the Black Hills of South Dakota across Wyoming to visit Yellowstone National Park. It was a worthwhile trip that included an overnight stopover in Cody, Wy.

Grand Teton National Park

We diverted a few miles south of Yellowstone to take in the Grand Tetons and make a quick visit to Jackston Hole, WY.

Old Faithfull

Our trip to Yellowstone was not complete until we witnessed Old Faithfull "blow its top". The weather was nice and the crowds were light, making it a great experience.

Geo-thermal Yellowstone

Yellowstone Park is covered with areas of exposed hot water in the form of springs, streams and "mud pots".

Lower Falls of Yellowstone River

Sheila and Christopher pose next to the famous "Lower Falls". This part of Yellowstone is called the "Grand Canyon" of Yellowstone National Park.

West Yellowstone Dust Devil

This powerfull dust devil suprised us in the middle of town. We eventually drove right through the middle of the devil with sand and rocks raining down on the car.

Little Bighorn Battlefield

This is the spot where Custer's "Last stand" took place. We stopped here (central Montana) on our way back from Yellowstone NP.

Panning for Gold

A trip to the Deadwood, SD was not complete unless we took time out to pan for gold. Christopher managed to glean 10 gold pieces from his "stake".

Shark Tooth Hill

One afternoon we drive about an hour north of Springfield, SD to the famed "Shark Tooth Hill". We took our excavating equipment and began digging and sifting for shark teeth. South Dakota was at the bottom of an ocean millions of years ago and shark teeth and other sea creature remains can be easily found in this area.

Fishing For the Big One

Christopher and Grandpa caught this Missouri River Drum on one of our first sandbar trips.

South Dakota Sandbar Time

We took advantage of the hot sunny weather and made several trips out on the Missouri River.

Let the fun begin

We flew into Coppenhagen on Sunday, June
10. We spent the afternoon sight-seeing and
then Monday morning we took a hop on hop
off sight-seeing bus tour. We got on the cruise
ship by 1 pm Monday afternoon where we
enjoyed the pool and sun.

Tivoli Gardens, Copenhagen

We spent the afternoon/early evening at
Tivoli Gardens. Christopher was lucky enough
to have a grandpa who knows how to shoot with
a bow and arrow and was able to win the dog.

The Little Mermaid

The mermaid is from Hans Christian Andersen's story,
The Little Mermaid.

Nyhavan Canal, Copenhagen

This is one of the most picturesque canals in Copenhagen. There were lots of shops and restaurants along the canal. You could also do a canal cruise.

The Star Princess

This was our cruise ship, the Star Princess. It held about
2600 passengers, weighs 109,000 tons and has 18 stories.

First and only towel animal

We had Christopher talked into not destroying
the towel animals right away, and then we only
got one the whole cruise, an elephant. He was still
intact when we got off the ship 9 days later.

First stop - Stockholm, Sweden

We walked into town and then took a hop on hop off boat
cruise. We made several stops including the Swedish Royal Palace and

We got in on the end of the changing of the guard at the palace in Stockholm where the King and Queen reside.

Swedish Coastal Houses

As we went thru the archipelago (it took 4 hours to go from
Stockholm, Sweden to the open sea) we had some great
views.

Lutheran Cathedral, Helsinki, Finland

We stopped here on our hop on hop off bus tour in
Helsinki, Finland. We also spent several hours exploring the
local markets.

St. Petersburg, Russia

St Isaac's Cathedral. We toured this cathedral which is now a museum.

St Peter and Paul's Cathedral

This church is inside the Peter and Paul Fortress. Inside the church you can view the tombs of Peter the Great, Catherine the Great, and the entire Romanov family (minus Anastasia) as well as all the other former Czars of Russia.
